Equity

  • Ensure ALL students have access to an education free of discrimination and harassment.

  • Address the achievement gap through equitable policies that reduce disparities and provide support to students and families in the district.

Equity means providing the tools necessary to ensure equal opportunity to all. Equity is defined as “the state or ideal of being just, impartial and fair.” To achieve and sustain equity, it must be thought of as a structural and systemic concept. Thinking about equity at the district level, we must think about which tools and policies are necessary to ensure equal opportunity to all students. Focusing on equity will allow us to effectively address the achievement gap through equitable policies that reduce disparities and provide support to students and families in the district.
